Hilo Hattie Goes Live on New MICROS-Retail POS and Merchandising SystemWestborough, MA—August 12, 2009—MICROS-Retail, a division of MICROS Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: MCRS), and leading provider of retail technology for the specialty and general merchandise retail industry, is pleased to announce that Hilo Hattie Fashion Centers, Hawaiian retailer of island apparel and merchandise, completed its successful implementation of the new, end-to-end MICROS-Retail point-of-sale and merchandising solution on May 31, 2009.
“Our goal at Hilo Hattie was to move our merchandising entirely to cloud computing. With the new system from MICROS-Retail, we achieved our goal in just three weeks,” stated Bruce Bonar, CIO at Hilo Hattie. “We have already saved tens of thousands of dollars compared to our legacy ERP system. Furthermore, the MICROS-Retail solution’s reporting functions are far superior. It gives us a huge boost in productivity. We saw benefits on day one, and expect to achieve full ROI by the end of the 2009 calendar year.”
Hilo Hattie uses the integrated system for everything from merchandise planning and OTB (Open-to-Buy) to completing the sale in the store. Hilo Hattie had already installed the point-of-sale system. Interfacing with the new merchandising system took only one day. The company undertook the challenge of the upgrade in the midst of its peak season. “We required the solution immediately and MICROS-Retail was able to develop and deliver on an aggressive plan,” stated Bonar. “I was impressed with the expertise of the implementation team. Everything went according to schedule. MICROS-Retail has been a great partner throughout this accelerated project.
“The greatest strength of the MICROS-Retail system is the total integration it offers Hilo Hattie,” Bonar continues. “Interface, troubleshooting, and productivity are all enhanced. We are operating a lean organization, with dramatically lower costs, while offering better customer service. ”
“The Hilo Hattie go-live is a milestone for MICROS-Retail. It is our first customer to use the new solution in a fully hosted model,” stated John Gularson, Managing Director of MICROS-Retail. “We developed the MICROS-Retail package to enable chains with fewer than 100 stores to offer services comparable to large chains and to enjoy the benefits of enhanced operating performance. Hilo Hattie is on the leading edge of the industry’s next generation cloud computing.”
